Inca o trupa care revine in forta, noul album, desi mult mai experimental, place si este extrem de elegant in sonoritati! Chiar daca vocea Annekei este inconfundabila si de-a dreptul fantastica pe acest nou material, linia albumului continua sa nu mai aiba nici o legatura cu Metal-ul si acest lucru ma face sa fiu mai retinut in detalii. Probabil ca vremea lui „Mandylion” s-a consumat definitiv, ca sa nu mai vorbesc de dementialul lor debut, „…always”. Doresc doar sa mentionez ca Alternative Trip Rock-ul Experimental, cu umbre Ethereal/Goth si Psyhedelic, cu multe repere Dark, abordat de olandezi este foarte inspirat si original, elementul fundamental ramanand vocea feminina. De la The Cranberries si pana la Kate Bush, intr-o forma extrem de comerciala, THE GATHERING ne prezinta pe „Home” o muzica relaxanta, mult mai buna si mai mistica decat cea de pe precedentele albume… doar ca nu e Metal, din pacate!

Cine nu stie despre acest grup? In decursul timpului legendarii olandezi si-au schimbat soundul, orientarea si loookul in asa fel incat imi este greu sa mai spun acum ca THE GATHERING ar fi cantat vreodata Metal. Ceea ce presteaza ei acum se numeste Alternative Rock/Triprock, o imbinare intre sunete organice si electronice, cu trimiteri serioase spre ecouri psihedelice, un Trip-Hop cu influente Space-Rock. Vocea lui Anneke este la fel de impunatoare ca si pana acum iar experienta cu Trickster G (ULVER) din ultima piesa pare inedita.

Lumea spune ca acesta ar fi cel mai bun album al celor cinci. Pentru o muzica de bar, de atmosfera, noile piese par perfecte. Umbrele timide de Dark sunt greu de distins si astfel noul album dovedeste inca o data ca THE GATHERING s-a despartit de mult de acel spirit underground, cu care s-au facut cunoscuti. Poate nostalgia mea ma face imun la noi sonoritati alternative? Habar n-am. Stiu insa ca muzica nu a deranjat pe nimeni din camera in care rula CD-ul meu. dar nici ca a fost remarcata de cineva.

Is there anyone not to know about this band? During the time, the Dutch musicians had changed the sound, direction and look over and over again so that I find at least difficult to say if they ever played Metal tunes. What they come to point out now it is called Alternative Rock/Triprock, a strange mixture of both organic and electronic sounds with serious hues of psychedelic echoes, perhaps a Trip-Hop with Space-Rock influences. Anneke’s voice is as strong and passionate as ever and I must confess that the experience of collaboration with Trickster G (ULVER) in the last track is at least inedited. People say this must be the best album of the five musicians.

Well, for a pub music and atmosphere, the new tracks seem just perfect, no objection about that! The shy shadows of Dark seem to hardly face the new tendency and, once again, THE GATHERING makes the proof the band has quitted that peculiar underground spirit, the one which made them famous. There might be a subjective nostalgia that keeps me immune to new alternative sonorities but I wouldn’t know for sure! What I know is that the music didn’t disturb anyone around me while playing but again… it didn’t strike either!
